This letterpress print was inspired in equal parts by Louise Nevelson Sculpture and the Smell the Glove album cover. Using 12" partial letter wood blocks, each layer uses a different black ink to build up varying levels of gloss and blackness. Depending on the angle and lighting, one might see a flat black square with a tiny white square inside, or a great range of tones and shapes where each of the the 6 layers can be discerned.
