Cooper Coiffure, aka The Girl with the Cooper Black Hair, is a new print created at the P22 Studios by printer/printing historian Amelia Hugill-Fontanel on the Vandercook Universal III. The blocks are from the Pollack Printing Collection housed at P22, and feature the impressive 840-point Cooper Black wood type! The composition evokes Futurist advertising posters and early experimental modernist poster designs.

The printmaker is donating proceeds to GirlTrek, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the health and healing of black women and girls. In their own words: “In the footsteps of a civil rights legacy, GirlTrek is a national health movement that activates thousands of Black women to be change makers in their lives and communities—through walking.” They are the sponsors of a recent 21-day challenge podcast called Black History Bootcamp which motivates anyone to walk while learning about dynamic Black figures in history.
