In 2019, The Center for the Study of the Book in the Bodleian Libraries at Oxford University issued a call for entries to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Herman Melvile’s birth. Letterpress printers were invited to print excerpts from Moby-Dick; or, The Whale (New York, November 1851) and quotes from the section Extracts. Supplied by a sub-sub librarian. P22’s Richard Kegler printed “The great Leviathan that maketh the seas to seethe like boiling pan.” —Lord Bacon’s version of the psalms. on a striking but now discontinued paper: Mohawk Chromolux Pulsar Red. A tanned fish skin was printed in white with silver “bubbles” and text set in Victor Hammer’s American Uncial typeface printed in black and white. Only 25 of these prints are available. Signed and numbered size 13" x 9"
